Prophecy

Fulfillment
1 The prophecy of the betrayal of the Lord Jesus Christ by Judas, 1000 BC, "Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat my bread, hath lifted up his heel against. me."
Psalm 41:9		 "And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them." Mark 14:10
2 It was predicted that the Lord Jesus Christ would be forsaken by His disciples 500 years before. "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd (Jesus), and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered." Zechariah 13:7 "And they all forsook Him and fled." Mark 14:50
3 The price paid for his betrayal was foretold. "And I said unto them, if you think good, give me my price – thirty pieces of silver." Zechariah 11:12 "What will ye give me, and I will deliver Him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver." Matthew 26:15
4 What would be done with the money? How would Judas use the betrayal money? "And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was priced at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord." Zechariah 11:13 "Then Judas, which had betrayed Him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver, in the Temple, and departed, and went and hung himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces. And said, It is not law for to put them in to the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in." Matthew 27:3-7
5 The prophecy of His scourging. "I gave my back to the miters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting." Isiah 50:6 "Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified." "And they spit upon, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head." Matthew 27:26, 30
6 Prophecy of shame, reproach, and dishonor. "Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor." Psalm 69:19 "And they stripped Him, and put on Him a scarlet robe." Matthew 27:28
7 Prophecy of false witnesses against Christ at His trial. "False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not." Psalm 35:11 "Many bear false witness against Him, but their witness agreed not together." Mark 14:56
8 A prophecy of the smitten shepherd. "Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered." Zechariah 13:7 "Then saith Jesus unto them…it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad." Matthew 26:31
9 A prophecy of the parting of His garment. "They put my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture." Psalm 22:18 "They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, The parted my rainment among them and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did." John 19:24
10 It was foretold that the Lord Jesus Christ would not open His mouth at the trial. "He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth." Isaiah 53:7 "Then said Pilate unto Him, Hearest Thou not how many things they witness against Thee? And He answerd him to never a word; inasmuch that the governor marveled greatly." Matthew 27:13, 14
11 The prophecy of our Savior’s Crucifixion. "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; he hath put Him to grief; He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand." Isaiah 53:5, 6, 10 "And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Hiim and the malefactors, on the right hand, and the other on the left." Luke 23:33 "Then delivered He Him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led Him away." John 19:16
12 It was seen in prophecy that He would fall beneath the cross. "My knees are weak through fasting.: Psalm 109:24 "And He bearing His cross went forth into a place of a skull, which is called Hebrew Golgotha." John 19:17. This tells us that Jesus came forth carrying His cross. "And as they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear His cross." Matthew 27:32
13 The prophecy of His thirst. "I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried.: Psalm 69:3 "After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scipture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst." John 19:28
14 What would they give Him to drink? "In my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink." Psalm 69:21 "They gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when He had tasted thereof, He could not drink." Matthew 27:34. "Now there was set a vessel ful of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to His mouth." John 19:29
15 They stare at Jesus on the cross. "The minutest details are prophesied. "They look and stare upon me." Psalm 22:17 "And sitting down they watched Him there." Matthew 27:36
16 The pierced hands and feet. "They pierced my hands and my feet." Psalm 22:16 "And they crucified Him." Matthew 27:35
17 The pierced side. "They shall look upon me whom they have pierced." Zechariah 12:10 "And the people stood beholding." Luke 25:35, see also John 19:34
18 His heart was broken. "I am poured out like water, and all m y bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels." Psalm 22:14 "But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water." John 19:34. The blood and water issuing from His side, indicated extravasation of the heart: i.e., a broken heart.
19 Our Lord’s mother and friends in prophecy. "My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore (wounds); and my kinsman stand afar off." Psalm 38:11 "And all His acquaintance and the women that followed Him from Galilee stood afar off, beholding these things." Luke 23:45
20 The mockery of the people is prophecy. "I became also a reproach unto them when they looked upon me they shaked their heads." Psalm 109:25 "And they that passed by reviled Him wagging their heads, and saying, Thou that detroyest the temple and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If Thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross." Matthew 27:39, 40
21 The railing hatred, and the taunting of the mob. "He trusted on the Lord that He would deliver Him; let Him deliver Him, seeing He is delighted in Him." Psalm 22:8 "He trusted God; let Him deliver Him now, if He will have Him: for He said, I am the Son of God." Matthew 27:43
22 The prophecy of the Lamb of God. "He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter." Isaiah 53:12 "Behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29
23 The prophecy of His intercession for the transgressors. "He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12 "Then said Jesus, ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." Luke 23:34
24 The intense lonely cry in the midnight hour of His suffering. "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?" Psalm 22:1 "Jesus cried with a loud voice…’My God, my God why hast Thou forsaken me?" Matthew 27:46
25 The prophecy of His marred visage., due to the brutality of the soldiers. "As many were astonished at Thee, His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men." Isaiah 52:14 Pilate called to the mob, "Behold the Man!" – "Behold your King!" to call their attention to His marred visage, and to excite their sympathy, for Pilate wanted to release Him. John 19:5, 14
26 The cry of victory and triumph. In the Authorized Version the latter part of verse reads, "That He hath done this." In the original Hebrew it reads, "It is finished!" Psalm 22:31 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, ‘It is finished.’ And He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost." John 19:30.
27 The Lord Jesus Christ commends His Spirit to His Father. "Into Thine hands I commit my Spirit." Psalm 31:5 "Jesus said, ‘Father, into Thy hands I commend my Spirit." Luke 23:46
28 A wonderful prophecy uttered 1490 years before its fulfillment. "In one house shall it be eaten; thou shall not carry forth out of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof." Exodus 12:46 "But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was dead already, they broke not His legs.: John 19:33. "For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled. A bone of Him shall not be broken." John 19:36
29 It was foretold 700 years before He was to be numbered with the transgressors. "He was numbered with the transgressors." Isaiah 53:12 "And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left." Luke 23:33
30 The Messiah was to be cut off but not for Himself. "And after threescore and two weeks the Messiah shall be cut off, but not for himself." Daniel 9:26 "Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake He not of Himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; and not for that nation only, but that also He should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad." John 11:50-52
31 The oldest prophecy of all, uttered by the Lord Himself, at least 4,000 years before. (Genesis 3:15.) "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; He shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." The heel of the Lord Jesus Christ was bruised when He was crucified, for the nails were driven through His feet, thus bruising His heels. Fulfilled. (John 19:18). The serpent’s head was there also bruised. (John 12:31-33). The execution of this sentence will take place when Christ returns. (Romans 16:20)
32 The place of the burial of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ is predicted. "And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth." Isaiah 53:9 "When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn outin the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulcher, and departed." Matthew 27:57-60
33 A great Calvary miracle prophecy, wonderful! Uttered about 800 years before. "And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord (Jehovah) God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day." Amos 8:9 "Now from the sixth hour (noon, Jewish reckoning) there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hours." Matthew 27:45
